WILDCATS MOVE BACK INTO TIE FOR
FIRST PLACE
For awhile it looked like Irmo was going
to run away with the game. They led by
as much as 20 points in the 1st half,
but never underestimate the Wildcats as
they stormed back in the second half and
defeated Irmo by 1 point. This puts them
in a tie with Irmo and possible Dutch
Fork (according to their outcome
tonight). Lexington defeated Irmo twice
so they had the edge on them as far as
placement goes. Lexington is diffinitely
in the drivers seat and their destiny is
in their own hands. They play host to
Dutch Fork on Friday. We need a huge
crowd that is loud. Come out and support
the might cats this Friday..Be LOUD!!!!
Good luck Wildcats! More to come

MENS BASKETBALL PREVIEW 2009/10
The Wildcats return 4 starters and 8 seniors
from a team that won 22 games, won region5 AAAA
and advanced to the round 3 of the playoffs.
The team will be looking to replace Trad Hunter
in the lineup and the leadership provided by
William Scurry, Jay Reid , David Hoppe and
Austin Smith. The leadership provided by
some of those seniors will be difficult to
replace, they didn’t score a ton of points, but
they were invaluable to our team”. David Burns
returns at the point, with Justin Mills and Matt
Jergenson returning in the post as starters.
Shaq Roland led the team in scoring as a
freshman, but will miss the first few weeks with
a shoulder injury suffered in the Summerville
game. Adrian Wigfall, Mike Spires and Corey
Hendren are all lead candidates to enter the
starting lineup. The versatile Alex Lail can
play at nearly every spot on the floor and Matt
Welch brings great energy and effort to the
floor. In addition to 8 veteran seniors the Cats
will use as many as 7 sophomores on this years
roster including Shaq Roland and backup point
guard Sam McDermott. Picked preseason #6 in the
AAAA coaches poll it should be an exciting year
for the Cats!!

PREVIEW 2009/10
Article by Coach David
Long
The Ladycat basketball team begins
this season with only one starter
from last season along also with
several players that received
playing time last year. The
Ladycats will be looking to replace
4 starters from last year’s team.
Two of which were all region
selections in four year starter
Molly VanWyk and freshman Moniqua
Davis who transferred. Junior
Jasmine Pinckney returns at point
guard this year from a knee injury
last season that caused her to miss
the last nine games. Other varsity
returners that look to contribute
with playing experience from last
year are: Seniors- Kirsten Barnes
and Samantha Gilbert, Juniors-Laura
Beth Neal and Morgan Hause along
with sophomores, Janai Pinckney and
Sarah Padgett. Sophomore guard Erin
Munn joins the varsity this year
along with freshman Allison Kay who
will play back up point guard and
shooting guard. The 2009-10 team
continues to be relatively young
with only 3 seniors and 4 juniors, 5
sophomores and 1 freshman.
The Ladycats look to improve this
year and return to the playoffs
after missing last year by 1 place.
The Ladycats will use their speed,
team chemistry, hard work and
defense to help them be successful
this season. They continue to
compete in the toughest region in 4A
with rival Irmo(#2) and Dutch
Fork(#9) in the top ten preseason
poll along with last years state
runner-ups Orangeburg Wilkinson.
The Ladycats look forward to an
exciting season!

build off a strong post season finish from last
year with a solid group of returners and
experienced freshmen. They return five state
