The AAU National Committee has selected the North and South Carolina districts for a new National qualification program. The Carolinas Cup is a series of events in which the participants earn points towards National Tournament bids. Now you can play your whole spring schedule in AAU sanctioned competitions.

 

Carolina Cup Challenge

Top finishing teams in each age will be invited to play their North Carolina counterpart in The Carolinas Cup Challenge in June. (more on this later.)

 

Entry Fees   

$250 per event - Just print off an entry form for each event you wish to enter; send the form and the fee to the address on the form.
Roster       

Turn your roster in to the event director prior to your first game. Do NOT mail in a roster. (You should have birth records available in case eligibility is challenged.) Use The SCAAU Roster form. AAU numbers must be included. Can my roster change event to event?
Yes; you can have a different roster for each cup event – just be sure that all participants have an AAU membership, are age appropriate, and are eligible to play (see the eligibility rules) 
Format

Three game minimum; Open to ALL teams with AAU membership* ALL games are Saturday& Sunday
Teams are placed in pods, and play other teams in the pod. (Events may not determine champions but will produce pod winners.)

Points Systems

Teams which acquire 24 points can claim a National tournament bid, either D-I or D- II, the teams choice. Points are awarded as follows:

  1. 3 points for each cup event you enter.
  2. 6 points for entering the State Championship.
  3. One point for each game you win in cup events.
  4. One bonus point for each the finalists of cup events.
  5. Maximum of 8 points can be obtained in any Cup event.

* Can I get a National bid if I don’t play in the SC State Championship tournament?
No; must still play in SC District Championship. Div I or Div II

Points Champion  The points winner in each age division will win The Carolinas Cup. Additional awards will be given to teams performing well.

 
Entry Deadline:  Entries must be received by Saturday prior to Memorial Day Weekend.
