Jackson informed his girls of this fact and
encouraged them to get revenge on that loss 6

LADYCATS WIN..AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN
AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!
The Lady Golf team hosted the State Championship
at the Country Club Of Lexington on Monday and
Tuesday. What an outstanding Job Coach Myers and
company did! The course looked great, Hamburgers
and hotdogs were provided by the Booster Club
for anyone who was hungry (they were great),
Cooked by Coach Myers dad. It was a 1st rate
effort by all parties involved. Now on to the
good part....
When anyone talks ladies golf in the state of
South Carolina you have to bring up the mighty
Ladycats from Lexington. I mean, 5 years in a
row. 1 year is good, 2 years is great, 3 years
is like WOW this team is awesome, 4 years is
flat out rockin and 5 yrs is called
Dominance! The Ladycats won their 5th
state championship on Tuesday and laid claim to
the best in the state. Perhaps the best ever in
Ladies Golf from the state of South Carolina.
The Ladycats finished with a two day score of
609, 25 strokes in front of second place
finisher Dorman.
The Ladycats were led by Senior Danielle
Dunnagan who on Monday matched her course best
with a 70 and came back on Tuesday and shot a
72. Dunnagan was the top finisher in the event.
Danielle was the first female golfer from
Lexington to ever finish in top position at
state. Maureen Dunnagan finished 4th,
Kathryn Miranda finished in a three way tie for
7th. All three of these Ladies made the All
State Team! Congratulations to Coach Myers and
the Ladycats on once again making Lexington
proud.
To sum it all up, what a way to finish your
season and for some of them their career at
Lexington! At HOME, at STATE with the best
coaches and the best players in South Carolina.
THE BEST GOLF TEAM IN LHS HISTORY!!

REGION CHAMPS! REGION CHAMPS!
Article by T.Schmidt
That is the cry that went up last night in the
Lexington High School gym, when the Lady Cats
volleyball team clinched the region title for
the fourth year in a row, by taking White Knoll
in four. It was the most exciting match I have
viewed at LHS in front of the largest Volleyball
crowd the new gym has seen. Both schools brought
out the fan clubs to cheer on the two teams tied
at the top of the region until last night.
Lexington moves to 13-1 in region while WK falls
to 12-2, their only losses coming at the hands
of Lexington. Last night’s match up was an
outright battle with each team fighting for
every point; the match could have gone either
way. The timber wolves were able to capitalize
on momentum in the first game taking it to extra
points and winning 28-26. The next three games
were close the whole time with the lead changing
constantly. Every girl on that court on both
sides fought for every point and it was
volleyball at its best, but the Cats were
tougher and pulled out three straight games,
25-23, 26-24, 25-23 to win the match and the
title. What a great gift for our seniors who
will remember this match as one of their high
school career highlights. The parents and the
girls would like to thank all the fans that came
out last night. The family and friends, the
student section, the cheerleaders and members of
the LMS and PHMS volleyball teams, you added to
the fun and excitement. Hope to see you again at
the playoffs starting next Tuesday at home.

WILDCAT CHEERLEADING...SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT
The Varsity, JV, and LMS cheerleaders traveled to Dutch Fork to
participate in the annual Silver Fox Invitational on Saturday. I decided
to go and see for myself what was going on. I am so glad that I did.
These young ladies showed exactly what all how all of their hard work
during the summer had paid off. The Lexington Middle School cheerleaders
were up first. WOW!! What energy and excitement flowed out of this team.
I honestly thought I was watching a varsity team. They were excellent
and had a flawless routine. I was so very proud of these young ladies.
They had a routine that was rival of any varsity squad there!
Congratulations to these Ladies on their 2nd place finish behind Dutch
Fork. Maybe I am bias but thought they deserved 1st. Moving on to the JV
squad. Same energy and excitement! They did have a few baubles but
again.. a fantastic routine and deserved their 3rd place finish..
Congratulations JV on a great job!! Now, on to the Varsity Squad. All I
can say is WOW and WOW again. There is no team in the state of SC who
can Tumble like the Ladycats. One after another they executed their
routine, with NO mistakes and great energy and precision. How they
finished 5th I just can't understand but then I am no judge and I do not
know how to score a routine. I just know they HIT IT! Great job ladies
and I know you will do well the rest of the season. In my book you
nailed it and are #1! I really enjoyed the experience and just wanted to
say to the coaches what a great job you are doing. The Ladycat
Cheerleaders showed great sportsmanship in cheering on the other teams
and are a class act! Click on the links below for photos of the event.
Déjà Vu?
Ladycat Volleyball
It’s Oct 2006, it’s senior night, it’s the
last match of the season, Lexington is playing White Knoll, and the
region championship is on the line. Is it déjà vu? Let’s hope so. In
that match Lexington beat White Knoll in three to win the region title
and eventually make it all the way to the upper state finals. The only
difference then was that White Knoll was not in contention for the title
they were just possible spoilers. This year they are tied with Lexington
for first place in the region going into Tuesday’s match. This year they
want it. The question is which team wants it more? The question is which
teams will show up? Let’s hope that Lexington brings the team that beat
power houses: Hillcrest, Dorman and Wando, this season in tournament
play. Lexington has been region champs the past three years, while White
Knoll has not won the title in the eight year history of the team. The
top five teams from this region will advance to the playoffs. The region
title insures home court advantage with a #4 seed team going into
playoffs. A second place finish makes for a harder road in the playoffs
including a possible round two match-up with Wando. Please come
out and support the Cats next Tuesday against White Knoll. We know WK
will be bringing the fans, so bring the noise, bring the blue and
celebrate our seniors: Gini Broadway, Chasen Dillard and Lauren
Owen and help cheer them on to déjà vu.

LADYCATS HEADED TO STATE!!
Ladycat Golf
The state championship for Ladies golf is fast
approaching. In fact it begins Monday. The
Ladycats have won the past 4 state championships
and are aiming for a 5pete this year. They are
currently 13-3 in matches and have won their
last two tournaments including the region
championship! Their overall record with
tournaments and matches is 47-6-1. With that
said, come Monday AM at 9:30 the Ladycats begin
their quest. Lexington is hosting the state
tournament at Lexington Country Club. The five
young women who will represent Lexington are
Maureen Dunnagan, Danielle Dunnagan, Kathryn
Miranda, Kaylea Cole and Jordan Cole. Standing
in the way of that title is their stiffest
competition in Dorman. Dorman was 2nd place
finisher last year at state. But there is no
better coach to have leading this team than our
own Bryce Myers. Coach Myers has done an
outstanding job coaching the Ladycats year in
and year out and we are fortunate to have him!
Good Luck at State Ladycats!!!! Bring it

KUDOS TO THE WILDCAT STUDENT
SECTION
Homecoming 2008
It's Homecoming in your brand new stadium. Your
team is carrying an 5-1 record into the game.
The Wildcats are sitting alone atop the region.
You have one of the best coaches in SC. Your
band is top notch, so where else would you
rather be as a Wildcat Fan? I have been
following Wildcat sports for about 18 years and
I have never seen the student section as big,
loud and as rowdy as they are this season. Is it
due to the winning record? I don't think so. I
have seen fans at swimming and volleyball
painted up and cheering on the cats! I think it
may have more to do with pride of ownership. The
stadium is on our home turf and the feeling at
the stadium is a more cozy environment. The
students can hang around the school, tailgate
and visit and go the game that evening. I
commend the Students for their support of the
football team and hope to see it carry over to
the other sports such as Basketball, Wrestling
in the fall. Again great job students and next
week you will be featured as the fans of the
week! Come out to Irmo in droves and take over
THEIR HOUSE! Here are just a few fans from
friday nights Homecoming along with the

very little problem.. All seven JV
