Cats Make Wolves Howl
Ladycat Volleyball
Last night the Lady wildcats traveled to White Knoll
with the intention of spoiling the T-Wolves perfect 6-0
region record. They did just that forcing a three way
tie at the top with Lexington, White Knoll and Aiken all
at 6-1. It looked like it would be a long night as the
first game started and remained close point for point.
At 13-13 Jennifer Hoppe came up to serve and broke the
game wide open with 9 unanswered points including 3 aces
taking the lead to 22-13. The Timberwolves were only
able to put up 3 more points as the cats finished them
off 25-16. WK came back more determined in the
second game. The game stayed tight all the way till
15-15 when the wolves begin to work on a lead eventually
getting ahead by four at 21-17, they took another lead
at 23-20 but couldn’t seal the deal, the cats took the
lead at 24 -23, the wolves then tied it up 24-24 and
then served out giving the Cats the lead 25-24. Kellie
Schmidt finished it off with a kill 26-24. After that
the momentum was all Lexington’s. They dominated the 3rd
game winning 25-16. The match was an awesome display of
team work. Everyone came in and did their job and did it
right. The girls wanted this win and you could see it in
the way they played. Laura Grace Swindler matched her
season best assists with 36, she added 4 digs, 2 kills
and an ace. Kellie Schmidt had season high kills of 24
and added 3 points on aces. Metta price matched
her top kills with 6. Jennifer Hoppe led digs with
7and aces with 6. Aubrey Dooley and Kellie added 6 digs
each. Back row players: Carita Petta, Gini Broadway and
Kinsley Wade combined for 8 more digs. Kinsley added two
points on aces. Combining for a block were Kaitlyn Cobb
and Katie McCoullough. Katie added 4 kills and Kaitlyn
laid down 3. The girls want to thank all the Lexington
fans that came out especially the painted up boys who
led the cheering. The lady Cats are off To Dorman to
take on the state powerhouses in The Tournament of
Champions Friday and Saturday. They begin the second
half of region play on the road Tuesday at Aiken to try
to avenge their only region lose of the season.

LADYCAT TENNIS KEEP ON ROLLIN
Ladycat Tennis
The Varsity Girls tennis team traveled to
play their rival, White Knoll,
on Thursday afternoon. The weather was not AT ALL
conducive for tennis, but the show had to go on.
The girls battled the extremely windy conditions and
still managed to sweep all 6 courts. Taylor
Patterson played #1 and played a smart match, winning
6-1, 6-1. Sarah Kim played #2 and played perhaps
the quickest match Coach Jackson had ever seen.
She won 6-0, 6-0 in record time. Lauren Howard
played #3 and won the battle of long points as she won
6-0, 6-3. Sarah Vickery played #4 and fought hard
all the way to a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Lauren McElveen
played #5 and won in much the same fashion as she did on
Tuesday as she won 6-2, 6-2. Dana Byars and
Sachini Bandara teamed up to play #2 doubles and quickly
dispatched their opponents 6-0, 6-3. The win for
the Lady Cats keeps them undefeated in region play.
Coach Jackson was impressed with how focused the girls
were despite the terrible conditions. It just
shows him that when the girls put their minds to
something, there's not too much that can stop them from
achieving their goals. Go Lady Cats!!!

LADYCATS REMAIN PERFECT IN REGION
Ladycat Tennis
The Lady Wildcats
played another home match Tuesday afternoon against the
girls from North Augusta High. Coach Jackson
always enjoys playing North Augusta because their coach
is a very nice lady and her girls have great attitudes
and sportsmanship. Despite windy conditions, the
Lady Cats went out and took care of business, winning
all 6 courts. Morgan Patterson played #1 and won
her match 6-2, 6-1. Erin Green played #2 and
defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0. Rachel Lovaas
played #3 and also won 6-1, 6-0. Lauren Johnson
played #4 and battled her way to a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Lauren McElveen played #5 and got her first Varsity win
with a 6-2, 6-2 performance. Victoria Anderson &
Sachini Bandara paired up to play #2 doubles and won
6-1, 6-3. Coach Jackson was very pleased with the
effort and the result. The wind made things pretty
challenging, but the girls fought through it and played
well. The girls play another region match at rival
White Knoll on Thursday where they'll try to stay
undefeated in region play. Go Lady Cats!!!

SWAT THE JACKETS
Ladycat Volleyball
The varsity came out hard and strong against the
Yellow Jackets from North Augusta last night. They took
an early 9-6 lead when Aubrey Dooley came into serve.
She served up 12 unanswered points including 4 four aces
to ice the cake at 21-6. The jackets were only able to
add three more by time the wildcats finished them off at
25-9. The girls from NA were able to shake off their
shell shock and played much better team ball in the
second game but it was never enough to take the lead.
Cats win 25-20. In the third game the yellow jackets
show some fight as they kept it close the whole way and
even took a few leads. They were up on the cats by 3 at
17-14, but let three more go and the Cats tied it up.
The yellow jackets stayed within two until the Cats let
loose on them at 21-10 with 4 consecutive kills and took
the game and match 25-20. This was just a warm-up for
the big match up with White Knoll on Thursday. The
Timberwolves lead the region undefeated at 6-0. The Cats
at 5-1 need to take this win to make a three way tie
with WK and Aiken. Please come to White Knoll Thursday
in all your blue and bring your cheering voices, this
will be the match of the season. Leading to victory last
night were; Kellie Schmidt: 20 kills, 12 digs, 2 blocks
and an ace, Laura Grace swindler with 31 assists and an
ace, and Jennifer Hoppe with 9 kills and 2 aces. Aubrey
Dooley led aces with 6....T.Schmidt

LADYCATS ON THE PROWL
Ladycat Tennis
The Varsity
Girls Tennis team made the trip across the dam to play
their 2nd tough, region match
of the week against the girls from Dutch Fork.
After beating Irmo earlier in the week, the girls were
ready to get back out and continue their excellent
play....and boy did they!!! The girls played great
tennis and beat a very good opponent 5-1. Taylor
Patterson played #1 against a very good tournament
player. Taylor played an excellent first set and
was up in the 2nd set before wearing down a little,
perhaps from playing 3 tough matches this week.
She fought hard to the end, but lost the match 6-2, 4-6,
4-10. Clair Larkin played #2 against a very good
left-handeder.
The two battled hard the 1st set, but Clair couldn't
pull it out. She collected herself and was a
totally different player from that point on, dominating
her opponent and winning 5-7, 6-1, 10-4. Morgan
Patterson played #3 and continued her superb play as she
beat a very consistent player 6-2, 6-1. Annie
Konduros played #4 and was able to overpower her
opponent in a 6-4, 6-2 win. Sarah Kim played #5
and once again showed she can outlast even the most
consistent players as she won her match 6-1, 6-2.
Erin Green & Victoria Anderson again teamed up to play
#2 doubles and played really well together in their 6-3,
6-1 victory. Coach Jackson is thoroughly impressed
with the effort and intensity the girls showed this
week. They played their 2 hardest region opponents
and came away winning 11 of 12 matches. If the
girls keep this kind of play up, there's no telling just
how far this team can go. Next week, the girls
have a home match on Tuesday against North Augusta.
Come on out and support the girls during this incredible
season they have going. Go Lady Cats!!!

Cats Swat Yellow Jackets
Varsity Volleyball
Last night it was once again time for the big
rivalry match as Irmo came to Lexington’s new gym for
the first time. As usual it was an exciting and loud
match up. The JV made it interesting taking the
first game 25-17, but dropping the second game 22-25
forcing a third game. The young cats took it to the
jackets winning 15-11. The first varsity game was a
close match. Neither team ever took a huge lead. The
Cats kept there composure and played solid ball.
The jackets defense kept it close but it was not enough
to shut down the Cat’s hitting game. Juniors Jennifer
Hoppe and Kellie Schmidt combined for 12 kills, leading
to a 25-22 win. The Cats came out a little shaky in the
second game and the yellow jackets took an early 8-4
lead. At 7-12 the cats strung together 5 to tie it up
12-12. Each team scored one more to tie it again, then
Irmo put together a 4 point rally taking the lead 17-13.
The points went back and forth until Irmo took a 23-21
lead. The cats kept fighting and took 4 unanswered
points for the win 25- 23. The 3rd game
started out even and stayed close with the teams
matching up point for point until the Cats took the
momentum and broke ahead at 14-11. The yellow jackets
seemed to loose their sting and the Cats never
relinquished the lead. Jennifer ended the game and match
with a kill from the middle. Cats win 25-16.
Setter, Laura Grace Swindler had an outstanding night
with 32 assists, 2 digs, 2 kills and the only solo block
of the night. Leading kills for the night were Kellie
with 15 and Jennifer with 9. Kaitlyn Cobb and Metta
Price each added 3. Carita Petta led digs with 8. Lauren
Owen and Kellie each added 6. Lauren, Jennifer and
Kaitlyn combined for a total of 6 assisted block. Kellie
led aces with 4. The Lady Cats face another tough region
match up on the road against Dutch Fork on Thursday.

LADYCATS SHUTDOWN IRMO
Varsity Girls Tennis
The Varsity Girls Tennis team played their first
match against rival Irmo Tuesday afternoon. The
girls knew this would be a big test for them and Coach
Jackson was anxious to see how his girls would handle
the pressure of a tough region match. To his
pleasure, the girls went out and took care of business,
winning all 6 courts....something that Coach Jackson is
pretty sure no other Lexington girls tennis team has
ever done. The girls played fantastic tennis!!
Taylor Patterson played the #1 spot, despite being
under-the-weather. She played a very smart match
and worked her game plan to near perfection. She
beat one of hardest hitting girls Coach Jackson has ever
seen 6-4, 6-1. Clair Larkin played #2 and shook
off a slow start to win decisively 6-4, 6-0.
Morgan Patterson played on the #3 court and was able to
outlast her opponent in most points, as she won 6-1,
6-1. Annie Konduros played #4 and won her court
with some big serves and hard grounstrokes 6-3, 6-4.
Sarah Kim played in the #5 spot and played a girl who
was her mirror image. There were many long points,
but Sarah was able to come out with the tough 6-3, 6-4
win. Erin Green and Victoria Anderson played #2
doubles together and played a very steady and consistent
match, winning 6-3, 7-6. Coach Jackson is very
pleased with the way the girls stepped up and played
well when they needed to. He's hoping this sets
the tone for how they'll need to play throughout the
region matches and on into the postseason. Next up
is a tough away match against Dutch Fork. Come out
and support the Lady Cats!!!

Wildcats Take 3rd
The volleyball team traveled to Charleston
on Friday to compete in the Wildcat Invitational
Tournament with some of the top teams in South Carolina.
The Cats had a quick first match on Friday beating hosts
West Ashley in two, 25-13, 25-21. On Saturday the girls
worked easily through pool play finishing undefeated,
beating Goose Creek 25-13, 25-15 and First Baptist 25-7,
25-12. The Cats also played a cross pool match to
fill an empty spot taking on power house and 4A state
runner up Wando. The Wildcats played the best volleyball
of their young season. It was great fun to watch such
good volleyball on both sides. They fought hard and
played like the region champs team, but Wando took the
match 25-16 and 25-23. Their strong play against Wando
gave the girls the confidence they needed to move into
the playoff rounds. In the quarter finals the Cats
played long time nemesis Porter Gaud. The Cats played
excellent team volleyball winning in two 25-13, 25-20.
Then it was onto the semifinals to take on Bishop
England who the Cats have only beaten once and never at
this tournament. The Cats played hard and kept it close
but fell to the Bishops 23-25, 21-25. In the finals the
Wildcats played for 3rd taking on James Island, also
undefeated in pool play. Even though it was the sixth
match of the day the team never lost steam and beat
James Island handily in two 25-23 and 25-16 . This
weekend was great practice for the girls and it should
give them the confidence they need to take on the rest
of region play this season. T Schmidt

in two 25-6 and 25-11. The Varsity Cats got off to a slow start
giving RNE their first five points on errors, but they were able to
shake it off and score 6 in a row to take 9-5 lead. At 11-6, Aubrey
Dooley served 12 unanswered points, including 3 aces. The cats took game
one 25-10. It seemed to be the night for the Cats to practice their
serve on the weak serve receive of the Cavaliers. In game two with a
lead of 11-7 Metta Price steps up and serves seven unanswered points.
Cats win game two 25-12. Early in game three senior, Chasen Dillard got
a serving run of six to give the Cats a 7-1 lead. At 14-8 Kellie
Schmidt got her turn at the service line. She served perfect on the
night serving out the game with 11 in row including 3 aces. Though not a
very exciting match is was fun to see all players contribute to the win,
including Kirsten Barnes, Sarah West, Mary Poindexter and Macy Chiles,
who all got into their first varsity match. Top stats for the night go
to Laura Grace Swindler: 16 assists and 1 kill, Aubrey Dooley: 9
assists, 1 kill, 2 digs and 3 aces. Leading kills were: Kellie Schmidt
with 8, Jennifer Hoppe and Metta Price each with 6. Metta served %100 on

HILTON HEAD SQUEAKS BY WILDCATS
LADYCAT TENNIS
The Lady Cats took to their home courts Monday
afternoon to play one of the premier high school girls
tennis teams in the entire state...the girls from Hilton
Head High. Hilton Head is home to several elite
tennis training facilities, so the girls that play down
there are all very experienced, tournament players.
Coach Jackson knew this would be a great test for his
girls, but like them, he eagerly looked forward to the
opportunity to see what his girls were made of. He
was not to be disappointed. Taylor Patterson
played #1 and had to play a phenomenal all-around
player. Taylor quickly lost the first set, but
didn't hang her head, as she made the second set very
close. She ended up losing that match 0-6, 4-6.
Clair Larkin played #2 and went out with her game face
on. She quickly dispatched of her opponent 6-2,
6-1. Annie Konduros played in the #3 spot and
really played a great match. Her opponent just
proved to be too tough in the end, as Annie lost a close
match 4-6, 3-6. Morgan Patterson played #4 against
a girl who will likely end up in the #2 spot for Hilton
Head before the season is over...she was GOOD.
Morgan fought hard but just couldn't quite outduel her
opponent as she lost 2-6, 1-6. Sarah Kim played #5
and was very consistent for most of the match. She
wore down her opponent and won the match 6-3, 6-4.
Erin Green & Rachel Lovaas teamed up to play #2 doubles.
The team needed them to win this match to force a
deciding #1 doubles showdown. Erin & Rachel played
great and pulled out the 6-2, 6-4 win. So, the
match came down to a deciding #1 doubles match.
Taylor & Clair played a very tough first set....a set
that had 4 games go to deuce. Unfortunately,
Taylor and Clair lost all 4 of those deuce games and
lost the set. They got down 0-3 in the 2nd set,
but Coach Jackson encouraged them to keep fighting hard
to the very end, regardless of what the score was.
The girls got it back in gear and played excellent
doubles from that point on. Unfortunately, they
fell just short, as they lost that second set in a
tiebreaker and the match 2-6, 6-7(5). Coach
Jackson was and is incredibly proud of his girls.
They fought very hard on every court against arguably
the best girls tennis team in the state. Hilton
Head won the AAA State Championship last year and will
likely win it again this year, so losing to them as
close as they did is nothing to be ashamed of.
This great experience should propel the girls into the
meat of their season and make other "tough" matches pale
in comparison. The Lady Cats made Lexington tennis
proud yesterday!!!
Go Lady Cats!!!

WILDCATS CLAW THEIR WAY TO VICTORY!
VARSITY FOOTBALL
The Wildcats traveled to Greenwood on Friday night to take
on the highly ranked Eagles. The game started with
Hanna's outer bands pelting the field. It look to be a
miserable night for the Wildcats in the first quarter as
mother nature sent bad weather and the Eagles pounding out
yardage and scores right and left. The Eagles
dominated the Wildcats early in the game quickly scoring 19
points in the first quarter. But heh.. that's why we play 4
quarters. The very disciplined Wildcats, never
panicked, never gave up. Take it to da house Adian
Wigfall ran a kickoff back 100 yds for a quick 6 points and
the blue and gold are mounting a comeback. This is the
2nd week in a row Wigfall has returned a kickoff for a TD.
He is exciting to watch and will give the Wildcats something
to look forward to this season. The Wildcats quickly
established themselves using that veer offense.
A-Train Carden kept pounding the D-line of Greenwood with
his strength. Carden ended up with 72 hard earned
yards. You could see Greenwood losing confidence with
each yard gained. Tradd Hunter played an outstanding
game, scoring 1 TD and rushing for 119 yds. Dexter
Wells carried for 46 yds. More stats coming soon.

Ouch That Stings
LADYCAT VOLLEYBALL
The Lady Hornets from Aiken buzzed into Lexington last
night looking to avenge two serious beatings by the Wildcats
last season. But from the start you could tell this Aiken
team was a stronger, more experienced team than last year,
as they kept it close losing to the Wildcats 21-25 in the
first game. The Hornets picked up the momentum halfway
through the second game and never looked back, winning the
next three, 25-23, 25-23 and 25-21. The wildcats seemed to
struggle with a new line-up that had not been tested with
any preseason scrimmages. The Wildcats travel next week to
the untested waters of Richland Northeast and Orangeburg,
two new additions to the region. Hopefully they can pull it
together and find their groove as a team. Leading the effort
last night was the always consistent setter, junior, Laura
Grace Swindler. LG had 36 assists, 15 digs and 3 kills.
Leading kills was junior, Kellie Schmidt with 16. Senior,
Lauren Owen added 10 kills and 11 digs. Leading blockers
were junior Jennifer Hoppe and freshman addition, Kaitlyn
Cobb, they worked together to throw up 3 blocks. Sophomore,
Katie McCullough added a solo and an assisted block. Leading
serving aces was junior, Metta Price. T. Schmidt

LADYCATS ROLL IN REGION OPENER
LADYCAT TENNIS
The Varsity Girls got their region matches started
on Thursday with a home match against the girls from Aiken
High. Coach Jackson knew Aiken had some young players
that have improved a lot over the past year, so neither he
or his girls were taking this match lightly. The Lady
Cats went out and took care of business fairly quickly,
winning all 6 courts. Taylor Patterson played #1 and
defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Clair Larkin played #2
and was the first court to finish as she won 6-0, 6-0.
Annie Konduros played #3 and pulled out a nice 6-2, 6-1 win.
Morgan Patterson played #4 and beat her opponent 6-0, 6-2.
Sarah Kim played #5 and had to battle against a girl who got
just about everything back. Sarah was able to prevail
with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Rachel Lovaas and Victoria
Anderson teamed up to play #2 doubles and got an easy 6-0,
6-1 win. Coach Jackson was impressed with the
determination the girls took to the courts with. They
seemed very focused and ready to play. He hopes the
girls bring that intensity on Monday afternoon when the
girls play one of the best high school girls tennis teams in
the state...the defending AAA State Champs, Hilton Head
High. That match will be at LHS and will start at
5:00. Come on out and support the Lady Cats as they
try to knock off this very talented team!!!

GIRLS VARSITY
TENNIS PULLS OUT SQUEAKER
The Varsity
Girls Tennis team traveled to AC Flora High School yesterday
to take on one of the best girls tennis teams in AAA.
Coach Jackson knew this non-region match would be a good
test for the girls and hopefully show them what they need to
work on or just how strong they really are going to be this
year. Taylor Patterson played a near-flawless match in
the #1 spot and beat her opponent 6-1, 6-0. Clair
Larkin played #2 against a very consistent player.
Clair could never get into her normal, awesome game and she
lost a tough match 4-6, 3-6. Annie Konduros played #3
and played some of her best tennis in this early season.
She defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-2. Victoria Anderson
was asked to play up at the #5 spot and she had to play
against a girl who was Flora's #1 player last year and will
soon be again once her foot injury heals up. Victoria
played well against a very tough, tournament-tested player.
Victoria
lost 1-6, 1-6 but Coach Jackson was very impressed with her
effort.
Sarah Kim and Rachel Lovaas played #2 doubles and just
couldn't work out a good consistent strategy as they lost a
very tight match 6-7, 4-6. The match of the day was on
the #4 court, which is where 8th grader Morgan Patterson
played. She played another very consistent player who
is tournament tough. Morgan lost the first set but
continued to battle hard. She managed to win the 2nd
set in a tiebreaker to force a 3rd set tiebreaker to decide
the match. She played an awesome tiebreaker and pulled
out the BIG win 3-6, 7-6, 10-4. This meant the match
had to be decided by a #1 doubles match. Taylor
Patterson and Clair Larkin teamed up and were dominant in a
6-0, 6-0 win.
The Wildcats' 4-3 win is impressive considering Erin Green
was out sick and given the toughness of
the competition (AC Flora will likely be one of the top 4
teams in AAA
this year). Coach Jackson is proud of all the girls
for fighting hard
and getting an excellent 1st win of the season. He's
also happy the
girls were able to get a wake-up call while still pulling
out the win.
The girls play their first home and region match of the
season on
Thursday against Aiken. Come on out and cheer the Lady
Cats on!!!!

LADYCATS VOLLEYBALL DROP OPENER
The varsity girls volleyball team traveled to Blythewood on
Tuesday afternoon to take part in a trimatch. The
Ladycats have high hopes to go deep into the playoffs this
season, but they got off to a rocky start falling to
Blythewood
12-25,
25-21, 18-25, 23- 25. Kellie Schmidt, one of the
Ladycats best players was sidelined with an injured heel and
wasn't able to play until the 4th game. Kellie should
be able to play in the next match. The Ladycats just need to
regroup and come out ready to play on Thursday night as they
host Aiken at home. Come out and support the Ladycats!
See you there!!!
VARSITY FOOTBALL PREVIEW
Three words to describe this team for the upcoming season.
Bigger, Faster and Stronger. The football team has
been working hard in the weight room in the offseason, and
working on conditioning. This should pay off huge dividends
during the games especially in the 4th quarter, as the
Wildcats should wear down many an opponent. Returning on
Offense will be our featured RB, senior Anthony (A-Train)
Carden. Carden brings experience and leadership to the
Wildcats this season. I like to describe Carden as 4 yds and
a cloud of dust. His strength is unbelievable and the
Wildcat faithful will enjoy watching him this year as he
drags 6 defenders into the end zone. Taking the helm at
Quarterback will be Tradd Hunter. Hunter is a great
athlete who also plays on the varsity basketball team and
brings another role of leadership to the team. Keys players
on Offense will be RB Dexter Wells, who has picked up speed
and really has excelled in the weight room in the offseason
WR Adrian Wigfall, who has already proven in the preseason
how valuable a receiver he will be this year. Wigfall is a
speedy receiver who can cut on a dime and will be fun to
watch. The OL will be much better this year. The
offensive line, which averaged about 198 pounds each last
year, is averaging about 235 pounds this season. This will
be the Wildcats asset this year!
On the defensive side of the ball, the Wildcats have brought
in a new Defensive Coordinator in Rocky White. Coach
White brings a ton of experience, so the Defense will
improve each game as they learn the new ropes. Key
players on Defensive are LB Brock Baxley, DL Brad Makins, DT
Derrick (Biscuit) Edens, DB Xavier Salley, DB Andrew
Chandler, DL Eric Bennett, and freshman SS Shaq Roland.
Coach Sitterle and staff, has the Wildcats believing that
they can win, a vital element that has been missing for a
few seasons now. Look for a successful season this
year. The season is early and we cannot predict how
many games the Wildcats will win. But we can say that
each and every game is winnable for the Wildcats and this
team will not quit and will be right there in every game
until the end. Good Luck Wildcats!
VARSITY
GIRLS TENNIS PREVIEW
The Varsity Girls Tennis team is looking forward to
another great season. After back-to-back-to-back
losses in the Upperstate Finals, the girls are hungry to
cross that last hurdle and make it to the State Finals.
Coach Jackson believes this is his most talented group
of girls and probably the deepest team he's ever
coached. Even after losing 3 singles starters to
graduation (Cory Bowen, Katie Hillis, and Christina
Galardi), this team is still very deep thanks in large
part to the transfers of Taylor and Morgan
Patterson. Their addition solidifies an already-solid
lineup led by Clair Larkin, Annie Konduros, and Erin
Green. On any given day, all of the top-5 players
could compete for the #1 spot, so that inter-squad
competition is sure to help the girls push each other to
be better and better. There are also plenty of
girls waiting in the wings to get their playing time.
Girls like Sarah Kim, Rachel Lovaas, and Victoria
Anderson are already gearing up for playing time this
season. Coach Jackson knows this team has what it
takes to win their region, but knows Irmo and Dutch Fork
(the 2 main competitors) will have something to say
about that. He'll be pushing the girls hard at
practice to not settle for where they're at right
now...he always wants them to focus on being better.
Expectations, though self-imposed, are very high for
this great group of girls. Come on out and cheer
the girls on as they try to work their way to an
appearance in the State Finals!!!
VARSITY BOYS CROSS COUNTRY PREVIEW
The LHS
boys return a strong, but young group of runners for
this season. Led by Captains Will Belue and Drew Harris,
both juniors, but already 4 year lettermen and 2 time
all region and all county, the Wildcats have their
sights set on a region title. Brian Gillespie(jr) also
all region last year, Jay Lloyd (soph) and senior David
Wilson (all region in 07) make up a strong returning
team. Help will need to come from freshman Alex
Haulbrooks, Aditya Bhonsle, Zach DeMoya, Ryan Stoudamire
or possibly even senior and first year XC runner William
Craig who will be on the Cats swim team as well as XC!
The Cats also have a talented group of young middle
school runners led by Tony Morales, Thomas Harris, Jared
Holley and several other 7th graders and led by
returning letterman and 8th grader Erik Wendt. The
future looks bright, but this team wants to win now!
VARSITY GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY PREVIEW
While they may not have had the best season last year, this
was due to the fact that they had only one senior on the
roster and were very inexperienced. Samantha Smith is
now running for Francis Marion University. Returning
front runners for the Wildcats to watch are Beka Rush,
Whitney Drozd, Dani Callari, Ariann Kesselring, Brandtina
Gordon and Hall Hunter. Megan Gyauch also returns
after missing last year due to injury. However, Jordan
Hendrix will be missed as she continues to recover for a
soccer injury. Other returnees for the Wildcats that
could make an impact are Livingstone Ngong, Lauren Hodge,
Shannon Reagon, Ali Callari and Cameron Shackleford.
New comers to watch are Anna Kay Talmage and Meri Heneage.
Come out to a meet and watch as the Cross Country team
establishes itself in the new 5AAAA region. You can't
beat the cost (free) and will enjoy cheering on the
Wildcats!
WILDCATS
DRENCH THE TIGERS
The varsity football team played in the annual Sportsarama
on Friday night at Airport High School. The Wildcats came
out ready to play as they took on Swansea in the 1st half.
The weather was wet and nasty with Squalls from Tropical Fay
pounding the field. Speaking of pounding, the defense
kept Swansea in check all night. Brock Baxley recorded
a sack on the Tiger QB causing a fumble. RB Anthony
(A-Train) Carden moved the ball at will and RB Dexter Wells
did as well. Both sides of the ball took care of business as
Lexington rolls to a 28-0 win. Maybe this was just a
glorified scrimmage but the Wildcats took care of business
and brought home the win. The Wildcats went undefeated
in preseason play. Next up for the Wildcats will be long
time rival Batesburg-Leesville at home on Friday night.
Plan to come early as there will be a lot of activities
planned for the opening up of our new stadium. Stay
tuned to the site later in the week for a special
announcement about Friday Nights Game!!!

locally to anyone for an additional $1.00 in
postage. She will make sure that anyone who
wants one will have a chance to get one.
The bandana and growl towels are sponsored

Money should be in the form of cash or a check.
Anyone who writes a check it should be made out
to “Lexington Touchdown Club”. Along with

that everyone in the crowd will also be waving a
“Growl Towel” or Spirit Bandana! I have
seen these items and for only $5.00 each they
are a steal. Get behind the Wildcats and
