LADYCATS TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!

SEASON IN A NUT SHELL
Article By Coach Janet
Jerry and Janet Dorneker coached the team again this year.  It was Janet's 4th year and Jerry's 2nd.  Their 2 yr old daughter practiced with the girls and sat on the bench during games.  She thought she was one of the players.  The team was made up of ten 8th graders, six 7th graders, and 5 managers.  Our group of girls became a team and worked hard all seaosn.

The LMS volleyball team was ranked number 1 all season.  We lost one match to Pine Ridge Middle School and that was the only loss all season.  We defeated White Knoll which we have not done in 4 years.  The returning 8th graders showed strength, poise, and leadership for the team.  Rachel Thomas, Kaylee "Sonic" Mack, and Hope Hartley were the captains.  Rachel Thomas, a returning 8th grader, has been a part of the team since her 6th grade year when she was our manager.  Sonic moved from lebero to setter this year and held the team together.  Hope, as middle hitter gave the team their spirit and drive to keep winning.  KaTerra Smith, starting middle, kept us grounded and smiling at her hits and serves.  Crystina Perez, a first year volleyball player, was an incredible asset to the team.  She had ton of athletic ability and fight to keep us in the game.  Each girl on the team played an important role on the team during the season.

In the end of the season tournament the Lady Wildcats faced Irmo in the 2nd round and won in two straight games.  We played White Knoll next and we knew we were facing a tough opponent.  White Knoll won the first game and LMS won the next two.  They were both incredibly close games trading point for point.  LMS was playing Fulmer Middle for the championship.  We won in three straight games.  Coach Jerry jumped about 4 feet in the air when we won the last point.  The team reached their goal-winning the championship as a team.

The C-Team Ladycats defeated Fulmer in the Championship game of the Pac tourney 3 games to 0 to win the Championship! Congratulations to the Coach and Players on an outstanding season.

Go Lady Wildcats!
